Though a newly formed state, Telanga is home to a rich and vibrant culture, unique to itself. It can boast of numerous dance forms. While Andhra Natyam is its main classical dance form, the state has several folk dances to showcase. Perini Sivathandavam, Chindu Nruthyam, Gussadi Nruthyam, Mayuri Natyam, Dappu Natyam, Bathukamma Natyam, Mathuri Natyam, Lambadi Nruthyam and Dhamal Nruthyam are some of these. While all others have their origins in the heartland of Telangana and nearby central Indian states, the Dhamal Nruthyam was, interestingly, brought to the land by the Siddhis from Africa during the medeival era.
