Born into an English family in 1798, CP Brown grew upto learn many languages both European and Asian. When employed with the British East India Company at Madras, he had to learn Telugu, for his job. Though he gained a level of expertise in the language, he realised that there wasn't an easy method or structre for non-Telugu speakers such as himself to learn the language. And so after extensive research on major Telugu literary pieces, he brought about a dictionary and a Telugu grammar book. His contribution to the language's study is legendary.
