The geotechnical investigation is carried out get data on physical characteristics of soil or rock around a site. It is a complete solution for mechanical analysis of soil using all finite elements method. This is to design earthworks and proposed structures or to support the repair of earthworks which could be result of subsurface issue. Structures are dams, bridges, railways, tunnels, buildings, excavation, road, power stations and dam grouting. This is performed by geotechnical engineers and investigation is important before any structure is built. Surface exploration include geologic mapping, photogrammetry along with geophysical methods is observing the physical conditions of the site. Boring in large and small diameter to sample the soil and perform tests. Standard penetration test, dynamic cone penetrometer test, cone penetration test are common tests carried out mainly to estimate soil properties.
