Computer Networks

An interconnection of multiple devices, that are connected using multiple paths for the purpose of sending or receiving data or media. Computer networks can also include multiple devices or mediums which help in the communication between two different devices. These are known as Network devices and include things such as routers, switches, hubs and bridges. Computer networks operate using a varying set of hardware and software. All packet-switched networks use Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to establish a standard means of communication. Each endpoint in a network has a unique identifier that is used to indicate the source or destination of the transmission. Identifiers include the node's IP address or Media Access Control (MAC) address. Some examples of computer networks include the following: local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), metropolitan area networks (MANs), storage area networks (SANs), personal area networks (PANs), WANs and so on.
