Collective nouns are special names given to groups of things, people or animals. For instance, in English we say a ‘group’ of people. The same in Telugu is called ‘samudaayam’. While in English we call stones piled together as a ‘heap’, the Telugu word for this ‘kuppa’. This 3-part series brings to you various collective nouns in Telugu. For ease of understanding, the English collective nouns for the same have also been given. Do read.
తెలుగు వ్యాకరణంలో నామవాచకం అంటే ఏదైనా ఒక వ్యక్తి లేదా వస్తువు లేదా జాతి పేరును తెలిపే పదం. అయితే సముదాయ నామవాచకం అంటే గుంపుల పేర్లు. తెలుగు భాషలో గుంపులకు ప్రత్యేక పేర్లు ఉన్నతాయి. ఉదాహరణకు మనవ సముదాయం, రాళ్ళ కుప్ప, గుర్రాల మంద. ఈ 3 భాగాల శ్రేణిలో ఇటువంటి వివిధ సముదాయ నామవాచకాలను తెలపడం జరిగింది. వాటి ఆంగ్ల గుంపు పేర్లు కూడా ఇవ్వడం జరిగింది.
