Collective bargaining is the process in which working people, through their unions, negotiate contracts with their employers to determine their terms of employment, including pay, benefits, hours, leave, job health and safety policies, ways to balance work and family and more. It will then negotiate a retail-wide agreement for its workers across the industry. For example, this may be a minimum wage, basic benefits, or certain working conditions. Why is this term important? By negotiating as a unit, employees have more bargaining power and leverage at the bargaining table. This has both advantages and disadvantages which can work for or against the parties involved. Know more about the term, the process, the pros and cons and other related information in this detailed presentation.
