“Sheelavathi” is a 1967 Indian Malayalam – Language film directed by P. B. Unni. The film stars Sathyan, K. R. Vijaya, P. J. Antony in the lead roles. The film had musical score done by G. Deavarajan. The music was given life by the beautiful voice of K. J. Yesudas. The song “Chirichukondodi Nadakkum…” invites his lover. The meaning of ‘Chandrika’ is ‘Moon.’ The singer is praising his beloved by calling her his moon. The movie is based on the historical legend Sheelavathi. The emotion of love had been neatly drawn through the lyrics written by P. Bhaskaran. The entire concept of love that usually revolves around two people is being redirected towards the small and simple things that are at times barely noticed. The love is pure, and its purity and sanctity is being shifted to his beloved’s gestures.
പി ബി ഉണ്ണി സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത് 1967-ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ മലയാളം - ഭാഷാ ചിത്രമാണ് "ശീലാവതി". സത്യൻ, കെ.ആർ.വിജയ, പി.ജെ.ആന്റണി എന്നിവരാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. ചിത്രത്തിന് സംഗീതം നൽകിയത് ജി.ദേവരാജനാണ്. കെ ജെ യേശുദാസിന്റെ മനോഹരമായ ശബ്ദമാണ് സംഗീതത്തിന് ജീവൻ നൽകിയത്. "ചിരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടോടി നടക്കും..." എന്ന ഗാനം തന്റെ പ്രിയതമയെ ക്ഷണിക്കുന്നു. ചന്ദ്രിക എന്നതിന്റെ അർത്ഥം ചന്ദ്രൻ എന്നാണ്. ചരിത്ര ഇതിഹാസമായ ശീലാവതിയെ ആസ്പദമാക്കിയാണ് ചിത്രം ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. പി.ഭാസ്കരൻ എഴുതിയ വരികളിലൂടെ പ്രണയത്തിന്റെ വികാരം ഭംഗിയായി വരച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. സാധാരണയായി രണ്ടുപേരെ ചുറ്റിപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള പ്രണയത്തിന്റെ മുഴുവൻ ആശയവും ചില സമയങ്ങളിൽ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെടാത്ത ചെറുതും ലളിതവുമായ കാര്യങ്ങളിലേക്ക് തിരിച്ചുവിടുകയാണ്. സ്നേഹം ശുദ്ധമാണ്, അതിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധിയും പവിത്രതയും അവന്റെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടവന്റെ ആംഗ്യങ്ങളിലേക്ക് മാറ്റപ്പെടുന്നു.
