According to the Puranas, the Kaliyuga deity Sri Venkateswara Swamy is said to have appeared in three places — Tirumala and Dwarka Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh and Chilukur in Telangana. Balaji is one of the many names of Venkateswara Swamy and he is known by that very name in Chilukur. Evidence suggests that the temple was built in 1067 AD. While the temple is called Balaji Alayam, Shiva is also worshiped here and his temple is also found in the same premises. This is a temple that boasts of having no entry tickets, separate VIP queues, as well as donation boxes known as hundis. There is a belief among the people that if they visit this temple, their wish of getting a visa is granted. Hence, he is also now known as 'Visa God'. పురాణాలు ప్రకారం కలియుగ దైవం శ్రీ వెంకటేశ్వర స్వామి మూడు చోట్ల వెలసినట్లు చెబుతారు. ఒక ప్రదేశం తిరుమల. ఇక్కడ శ్రీ వెంకటేశ్వరుడుగా, రెండవ ప్రదేశం ద్వారకా తిరుమలగా, మూడవ ప్రదేశం తెలంగాణలోని చిలుకూరుగా ప్రతీతి. వెంకటేశ్వర స్వామికి ఉన్న అనేక పేర్లలో బాలాజీ ఒకటి. ఈ పేరుతో ప్రాముఖ్యం పొందినదే చిలుకూరు బాలాజీ ఆలయం. ఇతిహాసం ప్రకారం ఈ ఆలయం క్రీస్తు శకం 1067 వ సంవత్సరంలో నిర్మించబడింది. ఈ ఆలయంలో ఒకవైపు వెంకటేశ్వర స్వామి, మరోవైపు శివుడు పూజలందుకోవటం విశిష్టతగా చెప్పవచ్చు. చిలుకూరు ఆలయం ప్రధానంగా విఐపి దర్శనాలు, టికెట్లు, హుండీలు లేని దేవాలయంగా ప్రసిద్ధిచెందినది. చిలుకూరు బాలాజీని దర్శించుకుని మొక్కుకుంటే వీసా వస్తుందనే నమ్మకం ప్రజలలో ఏర్పడింది. దేశవ్యాప్తంగా ఈ స్వామికి ‘వీసా గాడ్’ గా పేరొచ్చింది. ఈ దేవాలయం గురించి మరెన్నో విశేషాలు ఈ ప్రదర్శనలో ఇవ్వడం జరిగింది.
