When you're looking for a job, what's the first thing you look for? Job evaluation is a method of measuring the value of a job in comparison to other jobs in a scientific and organized manner. The goal of this procedure is to find the correct pay rate. The characteristics of Job evaluation are it helps to rate the job, determine the pay scale, brings good relation between employees, helps to differ job and skills, helps to determine the cost of recruitment and selection. The significance are it helps to land in a job which brings satisfaction, promotes transparency around pay decisions achieves a fair system of pay, supports equal pay, supports recruitment, career planning. The pre-requisites are Jobs must be extensively investigated, with detailed work descriptions and job specifications available for selecting elements to be analysed for the purpose of job evaluation. The second essential issue is whether to cover hourly or salaried positions and who will be covered. One task should be compared to others and ranked in order of importance. Everyone who will be impacted should be included in the job-evaluation strategy. Only if the job-evaluation plan is successfully communicated to all employees will this be achievable.
