Chaalam Padam Uzhuthu marikkanam' is a song from the album Malayalam Nadanpattukal Odapazham Poloru Pennu by Kalabhavan Mani. Kunnisseri Veettil Raman Mani was an Indian actor and singer who went by the stage name Kalabhavan Mani. Kalabhavan Mani began his career with the Kalabhavan comic ensemble as a mimicry performer. Mani built a parallel industry of Nadan Pattu (folk songs) alongside his acting career, selling a record number of CDs. The Nadanpattu songs, sung by the locals, tell the stories of the region and its people. The tunes are straightforward, and incredibly expressive. To forget the monotony of their mundane life and to refresh themselves, toiling groups of peasants sing them. They were passed down verbally from one generation to the next. There are some language modifications in today's versions.
കലാഭവൻ മണിയുടെ മലയാളം നാടൻപാട്ടുകൾ ഓടപ്പഴം പോലൊരു പെണ്ണ് എന്ന ആൽബത്തിലെ ഒരു ഗാനമാണ് 'ചാലാം പാടം ഉഴുതു മറിക്കണം'. കുന്നിശ്ശേരി വീട്ടിൽ രാമൻ മണി കലാഭവൻ മണി എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ നടനും ഗായകനുമായിരുന്നു. കലാഭവൻ കോമിക് സംഘത്തിൽ മിമിക്രി അവതാരകനായാണ് കലാഭവൻ മണി തന്റെ കരിയർ ആരംഭിച്ചത്. മണി തന്റെ അഭിനയ ജീവിതത്തോടൊപ്പം നാടൻ പാട്ടിന്റെ ഒരു സമാന്തര വ്യവസായം നിർമ്മിച്ചു, റെക്കോർഡ് എണ്ണം സിഡികൾ വിറ്റു. പ്രദേശവാസികൾ ആലപിക്കുന്ന നാടൻപാട്ട് പ്രദേശത്തിന്റെയും നാട്ടുകാരുടെയും കഥകൾ പറയുന്നു. ട്യൂണുകൾ നേരായതും അവിശ്വസനീയമാംവിധം പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുന്നതുമാണ്. തങ്ങളുടെ ലൗകിക ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഏകതാനത മറക്കാനും സ്വയം നവോന്മേഷം നേടാനും കർഷകരുടെ അധ്വാനിക്കുന്ന സംഘങ്ങൾ പാടുന്നു. അവർ ഒരു തലമുറയിൽ നിന്ന് അടുത്ത തലമുറയിലേക്ക് വാക്കാലുള്ള കൈമാറ്റം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു. ഇന്നത്തെ പതിപ്പുകളിൽ ചില ഭാഷാ പരിഷ്കാരങ്ങളുണ്ട്.
