A cell is the basic unit of a living system. The growth of an organism is based on reproduction of a cell which is also called as cell division. Cell cycle of eukaryotes include the events that help a cell to grow and divide. Usually, a cell spends most of its time in interphase, this is the time when it grows, replicates and prepares for division. After that, the cell undergoes mitosis by completing the division. Interphase is classified into G1, S and G2 phase. G1 is the preparation, S is DNA synthesis and G2 is condensation of genetic material. Mitosis is when actual partition takes place and two daughter cells is formed. After dividing, the new cells enter the interphase again and the cycle continues. Meiosis is division of reproductive cells, forming four daughter cells. The two stages of this division include meiosis 1 and meiosis 2.
