It can be explained as wireless communication within a shorter distance range. This is mainly applicable for functions like having a phone conversation via a headset connection with the phone, while using a wireless mouse, to transfer data from a mobile to a computer and so on. The devices are managed by using a topology that is star topology. This can be explained as a set of devices connected to a main device in a synchronous manner. For example, consider the phone as the main device or master and the devices connected to it like headphones, car stereo, GPS receiver etc as the slaves in the piconet. These devices, use a specific frequency which is determined by the master device. When a Bluetooth device finds the range of another, there occurs an electronic communication to get a confirmation from both sides. This is taking place in a wireless manner.
