Biological Clock

Presentations | English

Were you aware of the fact that each human has a clock ticking inside them? What else did you think that made you wake up at the same time as you do every day, even without an alarm? That’s where a biological clock comes into play. The circadian rhythm, as in academic terminology, regulates some very important and necessary biological functions in almost every living organism, such as sleep awakening cycle, hormone secretion, blood pressure, body temperature, digestive secretions and metabolism. Biological rhythms are the synchronized cyclic patterns that are exhibited in an organism as its response to a specific stimulus. This biological clock is controlled by Supra Chiasmatic Nucleus (SCN) which is located in hypothalamus. This area of the brain is responsible for the management of autonomic nervous system as well as the pituitary gland. Disrupting this internal clock may lead to health issues.
