Basics of English Grammer

Presentations | English

Where do we apply the principles and techniques of English grammar? One of the most iconic figures associated with English grammar is Lindley Murray, a Quaker lawyer, writer, and grammarian. Today, Lindley Murray is referred to as the father of English grammar by several scholars. Grammar is the study of the way words are used to make sentences. In linguistics, the grammar of a natural language is its set of structural constraints on speakers' or writers' composition of clauses, phrases, and words. English grammar is how meanings are encoded into wordings in the English language. This includes the structure of words, phrases, clauses, sentences, and whole texts. In English grammar, the eight major parts of speech are noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb, preposition, conjunction, and interjection. The five key principles of grammar are Principles of word order, Principles of punctuation, Principles of tense and aspect, Use of Determiners, and Use of Connectors.
