The bacteriorhodopsin protein is an organic memory material. It's one of the most promising one. Bacterial rhodopsins can be defined as retinal-binding proteins that provide light-dependent ion transport and sensory functions in halophilic and other bacteria. It takes light energy and changes into chemical energy for the function of cells. This enzyme consists of 248 amino acids in a single polypeptide chain. It’s the simplest ion pump. In absorbing green light Bacteriorhodopsin is most efficient. The molecule is purple in colour. Details are in the presentation. Please check.
