"Avakasham" is some of the special powers that people had in the past. Different categories of people had different rights. The rights of the landlords and the upper castes were different from economically backward and those belonging to the lower castes. For example, the right of the landlord to write in any way is called the Adima Avakasham. In the period of democracy there is no such avakasham to any people.
പണ്ടുകാലത്തു ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ചില പ്രേത്യേക അധികാരങ്ങൾ ആണ് "അവകാശം". പല വിഭാഗത്തിൽ ഉള്ളവർക്കും വെവ്വേറെ അവകാശങ്ങൾ ആയിരുന്നു നിലവിൽ നിന്നിരുന്നത്. ജന്മിമാർക്കും സവർണ്ണ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ പെട്ടവർക്കും ഉള്ള അവകാശങ്ങൾ സാമ്പത്തികമായി പിന്നോക്കം നിൽക്കുന്നവർക്കും അവർണ്ണ സമുദായത്തിൽ പെട്ടവർക്കും രണ്ടുതട്ടിൽ തന്നെ ആയിരുന്നു. ഉദാഹരണത്തിന് ജന്മി ഏതെങ്കിലും രീതിയിൽ എഴുതി കൊടുക്കുന്ന അവകാശത്തെ അടിമ അനുഭവം എന്ന് പറയുന്നു.
