Ash-Shu'ara

Audio | English

"The twenty sixth chapter or Surah in the Holy Book of Quran is titled Ash-Shu'ara or ""The Poets"". The name stems from the 224th verse of the very Surah where Ash-Shu'ara is mentioned. It comprises of a total of 227 verses (ayah) divided into 11 Rukus or Sections. The Surah was revealed in Mecca and is believed to have been made its revelation soon after Surah Taha, the time before Prophet Muhammad's migration to Madina. This was also the time when the verbal accusations of the Meccans turned from just verbal to both physical torture and socio-economic restrictions and bans. The primary theme that acts as the pillar of Surah Ash-Shu'ara is the refutation of shirk with God Himself while also focusing on conveying that God has created the entire being of the Universe."
