The highest honour awarded to sportspersons in India is the Arjuna Award. This was established in the year 1961 by the Central Government. The award is named after the Pandava Prince Arjuna from the Mahabharatha, as he is an epitome of dedication and determination, two characteristics that every sportsperson has to display. This presentation offers more information on the Award itself as well as details of the various sportspersons from the two Telugu States, who have been honoured with this award.
