Archimedes Principle

Presentations | English

What happens when you jump into a bathtub full of water? Eureka. It all started with his historic yell. Archimedes principle states that the upward buoyant force that is exerted on a body immersed in a fluid, whether fully or partially, is equal to the weight of the fluid that the body displaces. It is a law of physics fundamental to fluid mechanics. It is a useful, versatile tool. It was originally used to empty sea water from a ship’s hull. It is still used today as a method of irrigation in developing countries. Today it is used in boats, ships, submarines and water walking bugs. It is also useful in calculating the volume of objects with irregular shapes. Archimedes was possibly one of the world’s greatest scientists of the classical age. He was a physicist, mathematician, astronomer, inventor and engineer. Many of his inventions, theories and concepts are still in use today.
