Strategic human resource management involves a future-oriented process of developing and implementing HR programs that address and solve business problems and directly contribute to major long-term business objectives. Strategic planning presents great challenges and opportunities for HR professionals. Strategic human resource management (strategic HRM) provides a framework linking people management and development practices to long-term business goals and outcomes. It also informs other HR strategies, such as reward or performance, determining how they are integrated into the overall business strategy. The three phases of human resources management are acquisition, development and termination. These phases are also known as the pre-hiring phase, the training phase, and the post-hiring phase.
