Animal Classification

Presentations | English

Worldwide, the animal population consists of species numbering somewhere in the millions. There's a lot going on with animals and classification of any kind would help to learn and know them better. This was exactly what the Swedish botanist Carolus Linnaeus came up with. Animal kingdom classification is an important system for understanding how all living organisms are related. Based on the Linnaeus method, species are arranged grouped based on shared characteristics. Animals are placed in a hierarchy of groupings, beginning with the kingdom animalia and proceeding through phyla, classes, orders, families, genera and species. Taxonomists typically divide the animal kingdom into two “subkingdoms,” which include the invertebrates (animals without backbones) and vertebrates (animals with backbones). The presentation below will equip you with facts in an engaging way.
