An Overview of Right to Information Act 2005

Presentations | English

Every country wishes for a government free of corruption. Is this a possibility? Yes, it is possible by instituting safeguards such as the Right to Information Act. Article 19(a) of our constitution states that the right to information is a fundamental right. The UPA government passed it on May 11, 2005 in Lok Sabha and May 12, 2005 in Rajya Sabha. Furthermore, the President of India's assent was received on June 15, 2005. RTI went into effect on October 12, 2005. The Right to Information Act of 2005 gives every citizen the ability to request information from the government. Download this PowerPoint presentation to learn more about the subject.
