Amme Amme is a song from the movie Chayam sung by Ayiroor Sadasivan. G Devarajan master composed the song's music and Vayalar Ramavarma wrote it's lyrics. Vayalar Rama Varma did not actually write this song "Amme, Amme" for the film. Sadasivan, a resident of Ayirur, Pathanamthitta, was lucky enough to get the lyrics for the 1972 film "Chayam", which Vayalar Ramavarma wrote and dedicated to his own mother in Raghavaparambil. Chayam is a 1973 Malayalam's film staring Sudheer and Sheela. P N Menon directed this movie. Sheela was a prominent actress during her period, and many consider her to be one of the most influential actresses in Indian movie history. She was also reputedly paid more than her male counterparts, making her one of the highest-paid actresses of her day.
ചായം എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ അയിരൂർ സദാശിവൻ ആലപിച്ച ഗാനമാണ് അമ്മേ അമ്മേ. ജി ദേവരാജൻ മാസ്റ്ററാണ് ഗാനത്തിന് സംഗീതം നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നത്, വയലാർ രാമവർമ വരികൾ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു. "അമ്മേ, അമ്മേ" എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ ഗാനം വയലാർ രാമവർമ്മ രാഘവപറമ്പിൽ സ്വന്തം അമ്മയ്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി സമർപ്പിച്ച ഗാനമായിരുന്നു. പത്തനംതിട്ട അയിരൂർ സ്വദേശിയായ സദാശിവന് 1973ലെ "ഛായം" എന്ന സിനിമയിലൂടെ ഈ ഗാനത്തിൻ്റെ വരികൾ തൻ്റെ ശബ്ദത്തിലൂടെ സ്വന്തമാക്കാനുള്ള ഭാഗ്യം ലഭിച്ചു. സുധീറും ഷീലയും അഭിനയിച്ച 1973-ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ മലയാളചലച്ചിത്രമാണ് ചായം. പി എൻ മേനോൻ ആണ് ഈ ചിത്രം സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തത്. ഷീല അവരുടെ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ഒരു പ്രമുഖ നടിയായിരുന്നു, പലരും അവരെ ഇന്ത്യൻ സിനിമാ ചരിത്രത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും സ്വാധീനിച്ച നടിമാരിൽ ഒരാളായി കണക്കാക്കുന്നു. അവളുടെ പുരുഷ എതിരാളികളേക്കാൾ കൂടുതൽ പ്രതിഫലം അവൾ നേടിയിരുന്നു, ഇത് അവളുടെ അന്നത്തെ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ പ്രതിഫലം വാങ്ങുന്ന നടിമാരിൽ ഒരാളായി മാറി.
