Both are organic chemical compounds, which consists of a carbony function group C=O. Coming to aldehydes, there is attachment of hydrogen with a second hydrogen or to a hydrogen group which can be an alkyl group or sometimes a benzene ring. Ketones have carbonyl group with two hydrocarbon group attachment. They both are together called as methanoyl or formal group. Uses of aldehydes include formalin which is formaldehyde in water helps in preservation of biological structures. Also formaldehyde used in tanning, glue preparation, fungicides and insecticides. Benzaldehyde is contained in dyes, perfumes, even in cosmetic products. Coming to ketones, acetone is the best solvent, for a number of plastics and synthetic materials.
