Audio | English

"Al-Ankabut or ""The Spider"" is the twenty ninth chapter or Surah in the Holy Book of Quran. The name is derived from the 41st verse where l in the very Surah. It comprises of a total of 69 verses (ayah) divided into 7 Rukus or Sections. This Surah was also revealed during an early period of the declaration of Muhammad's prophethood, in Mecca. It was also the time just before the Muslims' migration to Abyssinia. Again, the elementary focus of the Surah is on monotheism, that is, the Oneness of God. It speaks volumes of the several stories of Prophet Nuh (Noah), Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and Prophets Shoaib, Lut, Korah, Ad, Thamud, Pharaoh and Haman. It is widely believed in the Islamic system of belief that all the prophets and also their followers went through hard times but God lend them a helping hand. Therefore, it urges one to believe that, if one believes, God will always help."
