"Surah Ad-Dukhan or ""The Smoke"" is the forty fourth Surah in the Holy Book of Quran. The title is derived from, where Ad-Dukhan is recognised in the 10th verse. It comprises of a total of 59 verses (ayah) which are divided into 3 Rukus or Sections. It was revealed during the same period of time as that of Surah Ghafir, Fussilat, Ash-Shura and Az-Zukhruf, thus making it a Meccan Surah. The Surah discusses the accusations of the Meccans and also the terrible famine and it's reasoning behind its occurrence. In Islam, this Surah is believed have been sent to the people through Muhammad, as the acceptance of a request put forth by Prophet Muhammad. The famine is said to have been a punishment of God and later God Himself helped cure it from the lands as all."
