Akasha deepame is a song sung by KJ Yesudas for the movie Chithramela which is a 1967 Malayalam anthology film directed and produced by T. S. Muthiah. The song's music was provided by G. Devarajan, assisted by R. K. Shekhar and the lyrics were penned by Sreekumaran Thampi and was considered gems in Malayalam film music. This film was Malayalam cinema's first anthology film, consisting of three short films. Prem Nazir, Sharada, Sheela, K. P. Ummer, Kottayam Chellappan, S. P. Pillai, Adoor Bhasi, Bahadoor, and Manavalan Joseph are among the cast members. Chithramela was Malayalam's first anthology film. T. S. Muthiah, a veteran actor, made his directorial debut with Chithramela. Under the umbrella of Sree Movies, he also produced the film. M. Krishnan Nair, the director, is credited with providing technical direction.
1967-ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ മലയാളം ആന്തോളജി ചിത്രമായ ചിത്രമേളയ്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി കെ ജെ യേശുദാസ് പാടിയ ഗാനമാണ് ആകാശ ദീപമേ. ഗാനത്തിന്റെ സംഗീതം ജി.ദേവരാജനും അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് ആർ.കെ.ശേഖറും വരികൾ എഴുതിയത് ശ്രീകുമാരൻ തമ്പിയുമാണ്. ഈ ഗാനം മലയാള ചലച്ചിത്ര സംഗീതത്തിലെ രത്നങ്ങളായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. മൂന്ന് ഷോർട്ട് ഫിലിമുകൾ അടങ്ങിയ ഈ ചിത്രം മലയാള സിനിമയിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ ആന്തോളജി ചിത്രമായിരുന്നു. പ്രേം നസീർ, ശാരദ, ഷീല, കെ.പി.ഉമ്മർ, കോട്ടയം ചെല്ലപ്പൻ, എസ്.പി.പിള്ള, അടൂർ ഭാസി, ബഹദൂർ, മണവാളൻ ജോസഫ് തുടങ്ങിയവരാണ് അഭിനയിച്ചത്. മലയാളത്തിലെ ആദ്യ ആന്തോളജി ചിത്രമായിരുന്നു ചിത്രമേള. ചിത്രമേള എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലൂടെയാണ് ടി എസ് മുത്തയ്യ എന്ന മുതിർന്ന നടൻ സംവിധായകനായി അരങ്ങേറ്റം കുറിച്ചത്. ശ്രീ മൂവീസിന്റെ കുടക്കീഴിൽ അദ്ദേഹം ഈ ചിത്രവും നിർമ്മിച്ചു. സംവിധായകൻ എം.കൃഷ്ണൻ നായർ സാങ്കേതിക സംവിധാനമൊരുക്കി.
